Our School

Dobbs Ferry Middle School builds on the fundamentals taught at the elementary school to prepare students for high school. Small class size results in close student/teacher interaction and fosters a healthy environment, suited to the needs of early adolescence. Our teachers motivate students through a rigorous standards-based curriculum.

Students also have an honors option that allows them to explore subjects at a deeper level. Other features include:

Foreign language instruction at all grade levels
Art and music education
Homework center
Support services from specialized staff
Communication among teachers, students and parents
State-of-the-art technology

Students are encouraged to take an active role in pursuing their interests. In addition to our award-winning Destination Imagination teams, Harmonaires, Ovation Music program, and band, chorus and orchestra, which build on their elementary school experiences, the middle school offers a full range of after school clubs and sports teams.

Thank you for visiting the Dobbs Ferry Middle School website. Our website has been designed to be both a source of information and a means of communication between our families and the middle school.

The faculty and staff of Dobbs Ferry Middle School are committed to the achievement of every child. Recognizing the uniqueness of the young adolescent, our focus is on the social, emotional, and intellectual growth of each student. To accomplish this, our faculty and staff provide a safe, nurturing learning environment where rigorous, standards based, academic programs are implemented. Our students' growth is further supported through a rich selection of modified sports, intramurals, and after school clubs.

Our parents are valued, active members of our learning community. They truly understand the important role the home school partnership plays in their child's success. Supportive and involved, they seek any opportunity to strengthen this partnership.
